Important dates for the CFPC 2016-2017

To make it through the CFPC certification in family medicine, canadian residents and foreign doctors need to attain the passage mark for:
- MCCQE Part II (Medical Counsil of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II)
- CFPC Certification Examination in Family Medicine
- Short Answer Management Problems (SAMPS)
- Simulated Office Orals (SOOs)
We will now quickly go through the dates to remember for both required exams…
MCCQE Part II (Medical Counsil of Canada Qualifying Examination Part II)
- Fee: 2409 $CAD
- You need to have completed 12 months of postgraduate clinical medical training (PGT) before these two deadlines:
- June 30 for the spring exam and December 31 for the fall exam of the same year
- To apply for the MCCQE Part II, doctors can do so through their physicianapply.ca account after login.
- Cancellation policy: the MCC doesn’t have a cancellation policy nor a withdrawal deadline. The candidates willing to withdraw from the examination will therefore forfeit their examination fee and can do so through their physicianapply.ca account.
FALL 2016 Exam
- The main pre-application period for the fall exam is now closed.
- The main application period took place from May 25 2016 to June 10 2016.
- Examination dates are: October 29 & 30 2016.
SPRING 2017 Exam
- The main pre-application isn’t open yet.
- Expected opening: Fall 2016.
- Examination dates are: May 6 & 7 2017.
- It is now possible to receive an email notification when the MCC opens up the registration process for the SPRING 2017 Exam. To register, click here.
CFPC Certification Examination in Family Medicine
- Fee: 2845 $CAD
- To apply for the CFPC Certification Examination in Family Medicine, doctors can do so through their CFPC account after login.
- Cancellation policy: Candidates who withdraw from the examination 60 days or more prior to the date of the examination will be subject to a penalty of $500. Candidates who withdraw within 30-60 days prior to the date of the examination will be subject to a penalty of one half of the examination fee. There is no refund for candidates who withdraw within 30 days of the examination.
FALL 2016 Exam
- Application dates for Residency Eligible Candidates: May 1 2016 to June 30 2016
- Application dates for Practice Eligible Candidates: January 1 2016 t0 April 1 2016
- Examination dates are: October 27 t0 30 2016
SPRING 2017 Exam
- Application dates for Residency Eligible Candidates: December 1 2016 to February 1 2017
- Application dates for Practice Eligible Candidates: July 1 2016 to October 1 2016
- Examination dates are: April 20 to 23 2017
FALL 2017 Exam
- Application dates for Residency Eligible Candidates: May 1 2016 to June 30 2017
- Application dates for Practice Eligible Candidates: January 1 2017 to April 1 2017
- Examination dates are: October 26 to 29 2017
